Congratulations to Seniors Nick Birks and Scott Halbur. They each were named Commended Students in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. Although they will not continue in the 2017 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 5% of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Homecoming Week 2016 is nearly upon us. A week of spirit days and preparations will begin on Monday, September 12 and culminate with the pep rally, parade, and big game on Friday, September 16. A community pep rally will be held in the IKM-Manning High School gym in Manning at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Friday, September 16. Please remember that school doors are locked during the day. Doors will open for the pep rally at 12:45 p.m. The school requests the public not arrive earlier than that. All IKM-Manning community members are invited to attend with the students to see the coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen. The Homecoming parade, beginning about 2:30-2:45 or approximately 30 minutes after the pep rally ends, will organize in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church parking lot. Float entries should report to that site no later than 2:20 p.m. that day. The parade will proceed west on 2nd Street from the Catholic Church to Main Street then turn south down Main Street, ending at Manning Service Center. Information will be sent home with students regarding pick up points for parents and bus routes after the parade.
The IKM-Manning Wolves take on the Logan-Magnolia Panthers in the Homecoming football game starting at 7:00 p.m. Friday night, September 16. Homecoming Royalty will be recognized in a pre game ceremony beginning at 6:40 p.m. at Forman Field. The Homecoming dance will begin following the football game at the high school and will conclude the Homecoming festivities. The theme for Homecoming this year, as determined by the student council, is The Olympics. Businesses and community organizations are encouraged to participate in the parade by entering a float butplease do not throw candy. Contact the high school office at telephone number 655-3781 or email [email protected] if you plan on entering a float. Prior notice is greatly appreciated. If your organization will have middle school or elementary students riding a float you are asked to contact Ms. Whitson no later than Tuesday, September 13. Community floats will line up in the Catholic Church parking lot and should be there by 2:20 p.m. The IKM-Manning FFA is lining up antique tractors to pull floats in the parade. Contact FFA Advisor Ben Booth if you have a tractor they can use or if you would like the FFA to find a tractor to pull your float. If weather would force us to have to cancel the parade we will still have the pep rally and coronation but move it back to 2 p.m. All normal after school bus routes, Irwin, Manilla, and Manning, would depart from in front of the school at the conclusion of the pep rally. If conditions force us to consider cancelling the parade we will try to make that decision by 10:30 a.m. on the day of the parade if possible. |
