If you walk in the high school entrance you'll quickly notice a couple of physical changes in the building. The old, red lockers have all been removed and replaced by new, black lockers. The new lockers have combination locks which the juniors and seniors assigned to those lockers are learning how to use, some more quickly than others. The lockers just outside the high school office were not replaced. Instead, that area has been transformed in to a Commons area for students. New tables and chairs are on the way as we continue to develop that area. I think it will be a nice improvement when hosting events in the auditorium as well.
I'm looking for donors to support me in a fundraiser for Special Olympics Iowa. The fundraising event is called "Over the Edge." If I can raise at least $1000 in donations for Special Olympics, I'll get to (have to?) rappel down a 345-foot tall building in downtown Des Moines. We have some special student athletes at IKM-Manning who benefit from Special Olympics programming and events. I'll be rappelling in their honor. If you'd like to support me the easiest way to donate is through my fundraising site: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/BrianWall/otedsm2013.
I've placed this link to my fundraising site on my school webpage as well. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. I'm hoping to raise at least $1000 before September 2. All donations are tax deductible. If you don't want to use a credit card on this website you can bring or send a check, payable to "Special Olympics Iowa" to the IKM-Manning High School in Manning by Wednesday, August 28. Cash donations can also be accepted. All donors can be listed on this fundraising page.
