IKM-Manning High School recently received some good news in the form of a recognition from US News and World Report. Each year this publication publishes a list of America’s Best High Schools, using an Olympic-style gold, silver, and bronze medal award structure. We were pleased to learn that IKM-Manning High School received a silver medal award. US News used a three-step process to determine the best high schools. The first two steps ensured that the schools serve all their students well, using state proficiency standards as the benchmarks. For those schools that made it past the first two steps, a third step assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work. IKM-Manning was one of only 3 schools in the state of Iowa to receive the silver medal award. There were no gold medal schools in Iowa and 44 bronze medal schools. While there are more factors that go in to having a top-notch high school than US News may have considered, this recognition is still a nice pat-on-the-back for our students and teachers. Look for the silver medal badge that will appear on our school website.
